Winter Retreat to Miami – Trevor & Kirsten

After a long, rainy winter in Washington, DC, we were looking for a quick, warm weekend getaway. We had been working nonstop for months and wanted to slow things down while working on our tan. We had the pleasure of staying at The Miami Edition (our second time staying at the property). From enjoying morning strolls on the beach, amazing breakfast and lunch options at The Market, and having all of Miami’s most popular restaurants and sights a short walk away we enjoyed every moment of our Miami adventure.

What were your favorite property features of The Miami Edition?

From the moment you walk through the lobby doors you know that you’re at a special property. The smiling, attentive staff is dressed in clean, pressed white summer attire. The white and ivory lobby is complemented with marble and appointed with a lush green array of plants. Their signature Le Labo scent is pumped through the vents. This is the moment we know we hit pause on reality and stepped into a luxurious beach getaway.

What was the highlight of your stay at The Miami Edition?

Breakfast. After our morning walks on the beach, we looked forward to dining at The Market within the hotel every morning. It’s a bright airy dining room with the best breakfast options to start your day off. La Colombe coffee is served with a selection of lattes on draft. The staff is incredibly accommodating with special requests and the menu is suited for all different dietary needs. Highly recommend the pancakes or the wild blueberry bowl with a smoothie. If you’re looking for something on the go, a pastry with a cold-pressed juice hits the spot!

What was the most significant thing you learned on your trip?

How to unplug, again! Spending our days at the private beach gave us back the much needed time for each other.

What was your favorite local activity?

The Wynwood Arts District is a must see. The streets are lined with artist painted murals, galleries and boutique shops. For about $10, you can take a ride share to this neighborhood and be completely transported from the beach to a vibrant arts community. Highly recommend a mojito from The Miami Mojito Company and lunch with an ice cream cone at 1-800-Lucky.

What advice would you give to someone looking to book a trip to Miami at The Edition?

Miami is incredibly accessible. Do your research on dinners and restaurants ahead of time, don’t risk having a bad meal by being sucked into a tourist trap. Make reservations in advance. The location of The Edition made it easy for us to walk to and from dinner every night. This is a perfect getaway for those workaholics looking to decompress and reset.
